The Only Moment We Were Alone
Gary Vaynerchuk – Facebook Stole Instagram for 1 Billion
Dear reader, Instagram now has over 800 million active monthly users. Facebook arguably stole it when they acquired Instagram for just 1 billion dollars back in 2012.
Youths today are known as the “Instagram Generation”. Nobel Prize-winning psychologist Daniel Kahneman (of Thinking, Fast and Slow fame) argues that we now perceive the present as an “anticipated memory”.
A single Instagram hotel can turn a struggling hotel into an overnight success. Top “Influencers” can make over USD 150,000 per post.
Below is a video showing how we’re all just taking the same Instagram pictures. Especially when viewing popular tourist sites, like the Eiffel Tower, or Fushimi Inari-taisha in Japan.
Food for thought next time you go on holiday. Maybe instead of taking your own photos, you can focus on enjoying the experience of the moment, and just grab other peoples’ photos off Instagram!
Yours Sincerely,
Henry Chong
